How to Judge a Juicer's Cleanup Claims
Every machine is marketed as easy to clean. Here is how to tell which ones mean it.
By Brijon M. · Last reviewed October 2, 2026
Every juicer in the world is marketed as easy to clean. The phrase costs nothing to print and commits to nothing. This page is the checklist that separates a real cleanup feature from marketing, so you can read a product page and know what you are getting.
The checklist, in order of how much it matters
- 1.Is there a fine mesh screen? If the answer is no, that is the strongest possible cleanup feature -- the screen is the only genuinely slow part. Hurom's Easy Clean range and Cuisinart's CSJ-300 both remove it.
- 2.Which parts are stated dishwasher safe? Not "is it dishwasher safe" -- which parts. Hamilton Beach lists five individually; Ninja says all removable parts; most cold press brands say nothing at all.
- 3.How many parts are there? Count them in the product photo. Three or four on a vertical; more on a horizontal; most of all on twin gear, where the gear teeth are the hardest geometry in home juicing to clean.
- 4.How wide is the chute? Counter-intuitive, but less chopping means fewer boards and knives in the sink. That is part of the real cleanup load and no review counts it.
- 5.Is there a brush included, and what shape? A machine that ships a purpose-shaped brush is a machine whose designer thought about the screen.
What each brand's wording actually commits to
| The claim | What it means | How much to trust it |
|---|---|---|
| "No mesh strainer" / "strainer-free" | A structural design difference you can verify in the photo | High. Verifiable and consequential |
| "All removable parts dishwasher safe" | A specific, checkable commitment | High. Check the parts list is complete |
| "Scrub-Free Cleaning" (Hurom) | Marketing language for the strainer-free design | High, because the mechanism behind it is real |
| "Easy Clean" with no mechanism named | Nothing in particular | Low. Look for what is actually different |
| "Cleans in 10 seconds" | No manufacturer we checked publishes a cleanup time, so treat any figure as unsourced | Low. Ask where the number came from |
| "Self-cleaning" | Usually means you can run water through it, which every juicer does | Low |
What strainer-free costs you
It would be dishonest to present the strongest cleanup feature as free. A fine screen is exactly what holds back very fine pulp. Remove it and you generally get slightly more sediment in the glass and slightly wetter pulp in the bin.
Whether that is a loss depends on you. If you like body in your juice it is not one. If you want glass-clear juice for a cocktail, a fine screen is doing something you want. Neither Hurom nor Cuisinart publishes a figure for the trade, so we describe it rather than quantify it. Juicer pulp explained.

The two free upgrades
Before you spend anything on an easier machine, do these, because they outperform most features:
- Rinse before you drink. Wet pulp slides off; dried pulp has to be brushed out of mesh. Same machine, four minutes saved.
- Line the pulp bin with a bag. It then never needs washing -- you lift the bag out. One fewer part, forever, for pennies.
How to clean a juicer has the full routine, including brushing the screen from the outside, which is the step most people reverse.
Machines whose cleanup claims hold up
1. The strongest cleanup design
Hurom H400 Easy Clean
Hurom H400 · $400+ · Our score 8.0/10
Hurom's Easy Clean drum has no mesh strainer at all -- marketed as Scrub-Free Cleaning -- which is the only approach that removes the problem rather than easing it. Hurom also states 15 years on motor and parts, 90 RPM and 150 W. The 45 mm chute means real chopping, and the yield claims are Hurom's own with nothing independent behind them.
- Yield
- Hurom claims the highest yield and least pulp of any Easy Clean model; no numeric figure, and no independent verification we could findManufacturer claim: Hurom · checked 2026-10-02
- Pulp
- Hurom claims the least pulp of any Easy Clean model; no comparable figure publishedManufacturer claim: Hurom · checked 2026-10-02
- Cleanup time
- Hurom markets it as Scrub-Free Cleaning; no cleanup time in minutes is publishedManufacturer claim: Hurom · checked 2026-10-02
- Speed
- Hurom states 90 RPM, 150 WManufacturer claim: Hurom · checked 2026-10-02
What works
- No mesh strainer to scrub - the design removes the part people complain about most
- 15 years on motor AND parts, which is rare
- Lighter than most verticals at 14.8 lb, so storing it away is realistic
What does not
- 1.8 in chute means real prep chopping
- The yield and pulp claims are Hurom's own and unverified by any test we could find
- 90 RPM is the fast end of slow juicing
Skip this if: You juice a lot of wheatgrass or very fibrous greens - the wide-gap Easy Clean design trades some fine-strainer extraction for speed at the sink.

2. The same idea, far cheaper
Cuisinart Easy Clean Slow Juicer
Cuisinart CSJ-300 · $100–200 · Our score 7.7/10
Cuisinart states a mesh-free easy-clean filter at roughly a third of Hurom's price, with a limited 3-year warranty and 1.5 L capacity. Less refined, mechanically the same answer. Cuisinart publishes no RPM for this model, which is a genuine information gap when comparing.

- Speed
- Not available - Cuisinart publishes 200 W but no RPM for this modelNot sourced
What works
- No mesh screen, so the part most people hate washing is simply absent
- 3-year warranty, triple what Ninja and Nutribullet quote
- 1.5 L capacity is generous for the price
What does not
- Cuisinart publishes no RPM, so you cannot compare its speed to anything
- No yield figure of any kind
- Mesh-free filters generally trade some fine extraction for easier washing
Skip this if: You want a published speed figure before you buy. Cuisinart does not state an RPM for this model anywhere we could find.

3. Different strategy: let the dishwasher do it
Ninja NeverClog JC151
Ninja JC151 · $100–200 · Our score 7.9/10
Ninja states that all removable parts are dishwasher safe, which does not make washing faster -- it makes it not yours. Two swappable pulp filters as well. 150 W, no published RPM, 1-year US warranty.
- Yield

- Pulp

- Speed
- Ninja states 150 W; no RPM publishedManufacturer claim: Ninja · checked 2026-10-02
What works
- Genuine pulp choice: two filters, not a marketing claim
- Dishwasher-safe removable parts
- Widely stocked at the big retailers, so it is easy to find and easy to return
What does not
- 1-year US warranty
- Ninja publishes no RPM, so it cannot be compared on speed
- 24-30 oz jug means emptying on bigger batches
Skip this if: You want a long warranty. Ninja covers this for one year in the US, against 15 on the premium verticals.

4. Cheapest low-effort cleanup
Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor
Hamilton Beach 67601A · Under $100 · Our score 6.7/10
Hamilton Beach lists the dishwasher-safe parts individually -- pusher, cover, stainless strainer, pulp bin and strainer bowl -- which is every part that touches juice, for under $100, with a 3-year warranty. Centrifugal, so celery and greens are out, and it is loud.

What works
- 3-year warranty, which is unusual under $100
- Every part that touches juice is dishwasher safe, per Hamilton Beach
- 3 in chute at a budget price
What does not
- Centrifugal, so it is poor at celery and greens
- No RPM published
- Loud, as all high-speed spinning juicers are
Skip this if: Celery juice is the plan. This is the wrong mechanism for it at any price.
