The Best Large Chute Juicers

The only specification that changes your morning every single day, and the one most reviews skip past.

By Brijon M. · Last reviewed October 2, 2026

We earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend or the order we rank things in. Full disclosure.

Chute width is the specification that changes your actual morning, and it gets a fraction of the attention that wattage and RPM receive. A 3 in chute takes a whole apple. A 1.5 in chute takes that apple in six pieces, plus a board and a knife, plus washing both of them.

Note the pattern: wide chutes are a centrifugal norm and a cold press exception. Kuvings' REVO830 is the one machine that breaks it.

That pattern is the real content of this page. Wide chutes are easy on a centrifugal machine, where produce is dropped onto a spinning disc. They are hard on an auger, where a large piece of fruit arriving whole can bridge or stall the screw. Which is why most cold press machines ask you to chop, and why Kuvings' two-chute approach is genuinely clever rather than just generous.

What a wide chute actually saves

Not juicing time -- prep time, and the washing-up that prep generates. Four apples quartered is a board, a knife, a couple of minutes, and two more things in the sink. Four apples dropped in whole is none of that.

Over a daily habit that compounds into the most significant time difference between two machines, and it is published on almost every product page, unlike yield. If you juice hard round fruit, chute width is a more honest buying criterion than wattage.

What a wide chute does not save

  • Celery and carrots still get cut to length regardless of chute diameter. Width is not the constraint there.
  • Leafy greens get bunched and fed by hand whatever the chute, because they have no structure to feed themselves.
  • Citrus still gets peeled, because the pith is bitter and no chute changes that.
  • Cleanup of the machine itself, which is unaffected -- though fewer boards and knives is a real secondary saving nobody counts.
Apples beside a glass of apple juice on a light surface
3 in is the threshold that matters. It is the width at which a whole apple stops being a chopping job.

The safety note worth reading

A wide chute means a wider opening above a fast-moving disc. Every machine ships a food pusher and it exists for a reason -- use it rather than your fingers, and never override the safety interlock that stops the motor when the lid is unlatched. Breville states a dual-switch safety feature on the 800CPXL citrus press for the same class of reason. This is not a theoretical concern on a 12,000 RPM machine.

The picks in full

1. Widest chute of anything we cover

Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL

Breville BJE830 · $200–400 · Our score 6.1/10

Breville states a 3.5 in feed chute on the Cold XL, the widest measurement in our registry, with 1200 W behind it and a 70 fl oz jug so a big batch does not need emptying mid-session. Breville also claims noise-reduction technology cutting mechanical noise by 40 percent, which is relative to other centrifugals and carries no decibel figure. 1-year warranty at a premium price.

Breville states 1200 W, multi-speedManufacturer claim: Breville · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Widest chute in this registry at 3.5 in
  • 70 fl oz in one go, so there is no stopping to empty
  • The only centrifugal here that makes a noise claim at all

What does not

  • Priced into cold-press territory while keeping centrifugal limitations
  • 1-year warranty at a premium price point
  • Large footprint

Skip this if: You want quiet, or you want greens. Breville's noise claim is relative to other centrifugals, not to a cold press.

2. Widest chute on a cold press machine

Kuvings REVO830

Kuvings REVO830 · $400+ · Our score 7.7/10

The only machine that gives you a wide chute and the right mechanism for greens. Kuvings states a 3.5 in wide chute for whole fruit plus a 1.75 in auto-cut chute for celery and carrots, so you get whole-apple convenience and a controlled feed for stringy produce in the same machine. 50 RPM, 240 W, 15-year US warranty. Speed
Kuvings states 50 RPM, 240 WManufacturer claim: Kuvings USA · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Two chutes: whole fruit in the wide one, stringy produce in the narrow auto-cut one
  • The narrow chute is the one feature aimed squarely at celery clogging
  • 15-year warranty on the US listing

What does not

  • Warranty length differs by region - check the seller's terms, not the brand page
  • No published yield or cleanup-time figure to compare against rivals
  • Top of the price range

Skip this if: Counter height is tight - this is a tall vertical machine and it needs clearance above the chute to load whole fruit.

3. Best wide chute under $200

Breville Juice Fountain Plus JE98XL

Breville JE98XL · $100–200 · Our score 6.3/10

Breville states a 3 in feed tube with an 850 W dual-speed motor at 6,500 and 12,000 RPM. 3 in is already enough for a whole apple, which is the threshold that matters -- the extra half inch on the Cold XL is a refinement rather than a transformation. Full review.

Speed
Breville states dual speed: 6,500 RPM low and 12,000 RPM high, 850 WManufacturer claim: Breville · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • 3 in chute takes whole apples, so there is no chopping
  • Two speeds, so soft fruit is not pulverized
  • Fast enough that a glass takes a couple of minutes end to end

What does not

  • Poor at celery and leafy greens by mechanism, not by tuning
  • Foam and faster oxidation are inherent to high-speed spinning
  • 1-year warranty

Skip this if: Celery or leafy greens are the reason you are buying. A spinning basket rides long fibers instead of crushing them.

4. Best wide chute under $100

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor

Hamilton Beach 67601A · Under $100 · Our score 6.7/10

Hamilton Beach states a 3 in Big Mouth feed chute with 800 W, dishwasher-safe parts and a 3-year limited warranty. Same effective convenience as machines costing far more, in exchange for noise and a plainer build. Centrifugal, so greens are out.

What works

  • 3-year warranty, which is unusual under $100
  • Every part that touches juice is dishwasher safe, per Hamilton Beach
  • 3 in chute at a budget price

What does not

  • Centrifugal, so it is poor at celery and greens
  • No RPM published
  • Loud, as all high-speed spinning juicers are

Skip this if: Celery juice is the plan. This is the wrong mechanism for it at any price.

Questions people ask

Which juicer has the widest chute?
Breville's Juice Fountain Cold XL and Kuvings' REVO830 both state 3.5 in, the widest in our registry. The REVO830 is the only cold press machine among them, and it adds a second 1.75 in auto-cut chute for celery and carrots.
Can you put a whole apple in a juicer?
In a 3 in chute, yes -- that is the threshold, and Breville's JE98XL, Hamilton Beach's Big Mouth and Mueller's Austria Ultra all state 3 in. In a 1.5 in chute like the Tribest Greenstar Pro's, no.
Do cold press juicers have wide chutes?
Mostly not. Hurom states 45 mm for the H400 and Tribest 1.5 in for the Greenstar Pro. Kuvings' REVO830 at 3.5 in is the notable exception, which is a large part of why it tops several pages on this site.
Does a wide chute mean I never have to chop?
For round hard fruit, largely yes. Celery and carrots still get cut to length, leafy greens still get bunched by hand, and citrus still gets peeled.
Is a wide chute less safe?
It is a wider opening above a fast-moving disc, so use the supplied food pusher rather than your fingers and never defeat the lid interlock. Every machine in this category ships a pusher for exactly this reason.
