The Best Juicers for Apples

Chute width is the only specification that really matters here. Both mechanisms work.

We earn a commission if you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend or the order we rank things in. Full disclosure.

Apples are the easiest thing in juicing. They are dense, full of water, and structurally simple, so every mechanism gets at the liquid. Which means the specification that actually improves your morning is not power or RPM -- it is whether the chute takes a whole apple.

Why chute width is the whole story

A 3 in chute takes a whole apple. That means no board, no knife, no chopping, and two fewer things in the sink. A 1.5 in chute takes the same apple in six pieces. Over a daily habit that is the biggest practical difference between two machines, and unlike yield it is published on nearly every product page.

The browning problem

Apple juice goes brown faster than almost anything else. That is oxidation, it is a color and taste change rather than spoilage, and it is the one genuine argument for using a slow juicer on apples.

A centrifugal machine at 12,000 RPM whips a lot of air into the juice, which accelerates it. A cold press machine at 50 RPM does not. If you drink the juice immediately, this is irrelevant. If you batch for the week, it matters, and so does a squeeze of lemon -- which slows the browning noticeably and is the oldest trick in the category. Juice oxidation explained covers the mechanics without making nutritional claims.

Prep, which is almost nothing

  • Do not peel. The skin contributes flavor and color and both mechanisms handle it fine.
  • Cores and seeds are fine in normal quantities. If you are juicing a large volume and want to be fastidious, core them; most people do not.
  • Remove stems. Woody and they add nothing.
  • Match the variety to the taste you want. Firm tart apples give brighter juice; soft sweet ones give more sugar and more foam. This is a flavor decision, not a machine one.
Apples beside a glass of apple juice on a light surface
3 in is the threshold. Above it a whole apple goes in; below it you are chopping every time.

Apples as a plunger

Worth knowing even if apples are not your main interest: a piece of apple fed after leafy greens or celery acts as a plunger, pushing accumulated fiber through the auger and clearing the screen as it goes. It is the single most useful technique in green juicing, and it is why so many green juice recipes include apple.

So apples are both an easy produce in their own right and the tool that makes hard produce easier. See juicers for leafy greens and juicers for celery.

The picks in full

1. Best for apples overall

Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL

Breville BJE830 · $200–400 · Our score 6.1/10

Apples are the produce where a wide chute and a fast motor pay off most, and Breville states the widest measurement in our registry: a 3.5 in feed chute with 1200 W behind it and a 70 fl oz jug, so a bag of apples becomes juice in one pass with no chopping and no emptying. Breville claims noise-reduction technology cutting mechanical noise by 40 percent, a relative claim with no decibel figure. 1-year warranty.

Speed
Breville states 1200 W, multi-speedManufacturer claim: Breville · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Widest chute in this registry at 3.5 in
  • 70 fl oz in one go, so there is no stopping to empty
  • The only centrifugal here that makes a noise claim at all

What does not

  • Priced into cold-press territory while keeping centrifugal limitations
  • 1-year warranty at a premium price point
  • Large footprint

Skip this if: You want quiet, or you want greens. Breville's noise claim is relative to other centrifugals, not to a cold press.

2. Best value for apples

Breville Juice Fountain Plus JE98XL

Breville JE98XL · $100–200 · Our score 6.3/10

Breville states a 3 in feed tube -- already enough for a whole apple, which is the threshold that matters -- with 850 W and dual speeds at 6,500 and 12,000 RPM. The low speed is the right setting for softer apples. The carafe includes a froth separator, which apple juice needs. Full review.

What works

  • 3 in chute takes whole apples, so there is no chopping
  • Two speeds, so soft fruit is not pulverized
  • Fast enough that a glass takes a couple of minutes end to end

What does not

  • Poor at celery and leafy greens by mechanism, not by tuning
  • Foam and faster oxidation are inherent to high-speed spinning
  • 1-year warranty

Skip this if: Celery or leafy greens are the reason you are buying. A spinning basket rides long fibers instead of crushing them.

3. Best cold press for apples

Kuvings REVO830

Kuvings REVO830 · $400+ · Our score 7.7/10

The only cold press machine that takes a whole apple: Kuvings states a 3.5 in wide chute alongside the narrow auto-cut one. 50 RPM means less foam and slower browning than any centrifugal machine, with a 15-year US warranty. Slower overall, and a lot more money. Full review.

Kuvings states 50 RPM, 240 WManufacturer claim: Kuvings USA · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Two chutes: whole fruit in the wide one, stringy produce in the narrow auto-cut one
  • The narrow chute is the one feature aimed squarely at celery clogging
  • 15-year warranty on the US listing

What does not

  • Warranty length differs by region - check the seller's terms, not the brand page
  • No published yield or cleanup-time figure to compare against rivals
  • Top of the price range

Skip this if: Counter height is tight - this is a tall vertical machine and it needs clearance above the chute to load whole fruit.

4. Best under $100 for apples

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor

Hamilton Beach 67601A · Under $100 · Our score 6.7/10

Hamilton Beach states an 800 W motor and a 3 in Big Mouth chute, with dishwasher-safe parts and a 3-year limited warranty. For apples specifically that is effectively the same convenience as machines costing four times more. It is loud, and it is centrifugal, so this is not the machine if greens are also on your list.

What works

  • 3-year warranty, which is unusual under $100
  • Every part that touches juice is dishwasher safe, per Hamilton Beach
  • 3 in chute at a budget price

What does not

  • Centrifugal, so it is poor at celery and greens
  • No RPM published
  • Loud, as all high-speed spinning juicers are

Skip this if: Celery juice is the plan. This is the wrong mechanism for it at any price.

Questions people ask

What is the best juicer for apples?
Breville's Juice Fountain Cold XL, for the 3.5 in chute and 70 fl oz jug -- apples are the produce where volume and a wide chute pay off most. Hamilton Beach's Big Mouth gets you the same effective convenience under $100.
Do I need to core apples before juicing?
Not in normal quantities. Cores and seeds pass through both mechanisms without trouble. Remove the stems, and do not bother peeling -- the skin adds flavor.
Why does my apple juice turn brown?
Oxidation, which is a color and taste change rather than spoilage. A fast centrifugal machine accelerates it by whipping in air; a slow juicer does not. A squeeze of lemon slows it noticeably.
Is a cold press juicer better for apples?
Only marginally, and the benefit is less foam and slower browning rather than more juice. Apples are dense and watery, so a centrifugal machine extracts them perfectly well and does it far faster.
Which apples make the best juice?
A flavor question rather than a machine one. Firm tart varieties give brighter, less sweet juice; soft sweet ones give more sugar and more foam. Mixing varieties is common and works well.
