The Best Vertical Slow Juicers

Upright augers, narrow footprints and the current competition over how little washing you have to do.

Vertical is the shape to buy if you are buying one cold press juicer and you have a normal kitchen. The auger stands upright, gravity helps feed it, and the footprint is narrow. Almost all the design energy in this category over the last few years has gone into verticals, and specifically into making them easier to clean.

Why vertical won

Counter depth. This is the constraint that actually bites in real kitchens. A horizontal machine is wide -- Omega states 19.22 in for the NC900HDC -- and it needs clear space to the side so you can push produce along the auger. A vertical trades that for height.

Fewer parts. A typical vertical has a drum, a screen, an auger and a lid. A horizontal has those plus an end cap, pressure adjustment and a longer housing. Over a daily habit that difference at the sink compounds.

Gravity. You drop produce in rather than pushing it through, which is why hands-free hoppers are only possible on this shape. Nama's J2 and Kuvings' AUTO10 both use it.

The height problem nobody mentions

Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen. Every figure above is labeled with where it came from; “Not available” means we could not find a published source, not that the machine performs badly. How we pick.

Where verticals fall short

  • Wheatgrass. Generally poor. The geometry does not suit very short fine fiber, and this is the main reason to buy horizontal instead -- see juicers for wheatgrass.
  • No adjustment. None of the verticals here offers anything like Omega's five end-cap pressure settings. You get what the machine gives you.
  • Narrow chutes on most models. Hurom's 45 mm chute means chopping. Kuvings' 3.5 in chute is the exception and it is part of why the REVO830 tops this page.
  • Height, as above. The constraint people discover after delivery.

A vertical trades width for height. Both need measuring, and only one usually gets measured.

1. Best vertical overall

Kuvings REVO830

Kuvings REVO830 · $400+ · Our score 7.7/10

The two-chute design solves the real problem with verticals. Kuvings states a 3.5 in wide chute for whole fruit plus a 1.75 in auto-cut chute for celery and carrots, which is the answer to both the prep question and the clogging question at once. 50 RPM, 240 W, 15-year US warranty per Kuvings.

Kuvings states 50 RPM, 240 WManufacturer claim: Kuvings USA · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Two chutes: whole fruit in the wide one, stringy produce in the narrow auto-cut one
  • The narrow chute is the one feature aimed squarely at celery clogging
  • 15-year warranty on the US listing

What does not

  • Warranty length differs by region - check the seller's terms, not the brand page
  • No published yield or cleanup-time figure to compare against rivals
  • Top of the price range

Skip this if: Counter height is tight - this is a tall vertical machine and it needs clearance above the chute to load whole fruit.

2. Best hands-free

Nama J2

Nama J2 · $400+ · Our score 8.0/10

Load the hopper, press go, leave the kitchen. Nama states 50 RPM from a single-phase induction motor at 200 W, and 20-30 oz of juice per batch depending on ingredients -- one of the very few yield-adjacent figures published anywhere in this category. 15 years on the motor, 2 on parts. It is among the most expensive machines we cover. Full review.

Speed
Nama states 50 RPM, single-phase induction motor, 200 WManufacturer claim: Nama · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Hands-free hopper means you are not feeding it piece by piece
  • Longest motor warranty in its price class on paper (15 years)
  • Low 50 RPM, which is the slow end of vertical cold press

What does not

  • Among the most expensive machines we cover
  • Nama publishes no cleanup time and no pulp-dryness figure
  • Parts warranty is 2 years, far shorter than the motor's 15

Skip this if: You juice a single glass occasionally — you will pay for a hopper and an auto-feed you never use, and still wash the same number of parts.

3. Least washing

Hurom H400 Easy Clean

Hurom H400 · $400+ · Our score 8.0/10

No mesh strainer, so the slowest part of cleanup is absent rather than improved. Hurom states 90 RPM, 150 W, a 45 mm chute and a 15-year warranty covering motor and parts. At 14.8 lb it is light enough that putting it away is realistic, which matters more than it sounds.

Speed
Hurom states 90 RPM, 150 WManufacturer claim: Hurom · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • No mesh strainer to scrub - the design removes the part people complain about most
  • 15 years on motor AND parts, which is rare
  • Lighter than most verticals at 14.8 lb, so storing it away is realistic

What does not

  • 1.8 in chute means real prep chopping
  • The yield and pulp claims are Hurom's own and unverified by any test we could find
  • 90 RPM is the fast end of slow juicing

Skip this if: You juice a lot of wheatgrass or very fibrous greens - the wide-gap Easy Clean design trades some fine-strainer extraction for speed at the sink.

4. Smallest and cheapest

Nutribullet Slow Juicer

Nutribullet NBJ50300 · $100–200 · Our score 7.4/10

17 in tall and 6.25 in wide per Nutribullet, at the bottom of the price band. 65 RPM, 150 W and a reverse function. A 24 oz cup and a 1-year warranty are the trade, and for a first cold press machine that is a reasonable one.

Nutribullet states 65 RPM, 150 W, with a reverse functionManufacturer claim: Nutribullet · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Cold press mechanics at a centrifugal-adjacent price
  • Reverse function, which is how you clear a celery jam
  • Small footprint at 17 in tall and 6.25 in wide

What does not

  • 1-year warranty against 15 years on the premium verticals
  • 24 oz catch cup forces breaks on bigger batches
  • No published yield, pulp or cleanup figures

Skip this if: You juice for more than one person. A 24 oz container means stopping and emptying mid-session.

Questions people ask

What is the best vertical slow juicer?
Kuvings' REVO830, for the two-chute design: a wide chute for whole fruit and a 1.75 in auto-cut chute for celery and carrots. Nama's J2 if you want hands-free operation, and Hurom's H400 if cleanup is the deciding factor.
Are vertical juicers better than horizontal ones?
Easier to live with, for most people: less counter depth, fewer parts, gravity-assisted feeding. Horizontal machines are better at wheatgrass and are the only ones offering adjustable extraction.
Do vertical juicers clog more?
They can, because produce drops onto the auger rather than being pushed along it, so a bundle of celery can bridge instead of feeding. Cutting to shorter lengths and feeding more slowly fixes most of it, and a narrow auto-cut chute like the REVO830's is designed around the problem.
Will a vertical juicer fit under my kitchen cabinets?
Check carefully. Nutribullet states 17 in and Hurom about 18.5 in assembled, and you need clearance above that to load the chute. Measure the gap between your counter and the cabinet before ordering.
