The Best Juicers for Kale and Spinach

Two greens that get grouped together and should not be. One is structural, the other is water in a bag.

Kale and spinach get sold together, cooked together and searched together, and in a juicer they behave almost nothing alike. Kale is tough and structural. Spinach is thin and wet. The machine that handles both well is one you can adjust, or one slow enough not to mind.

The difference that matters

KaleSpinach
StructureThick, fibrous, often with woody stemsThin, delicate, high water content
What it needsHigh pressure to compress the fiberGentle handling or it pulps rather than juices
Typical failureCarried through under-squeezedTurns to paste and blocks the screen
Best fedRolled into a tight dense bundleAlternated with firm produce to push it through
YieldModest for the volume of leafBetter than kale per handful, but still low

Which is why adjustability is the single most useful feature for this pairing. Omega's five end-cap pressure settings let you run hard for kale and ease off for spinach, and nothing else in our registry offers an equivalent. If you cannot adjust, the next best thing is to go slow -- Omega's 43 RPM vertical is forgiving with spinach precisely because it is unhurried.

Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen. Every figure above is labeled with where it came from; “Not available” means we could not find a published source, not that the machine performs badly. How we pick.

Technique for each

Kale

  • Stack and roll the leaves into a tight cigar before feeding. Loose kale gets carried through.
  • Keep the thinner stems. They have structure and act as their own plunger. Discard genuinely woody ones.
  • Follow each bundle with hard produce -- apple, carrot, cucumber -- to push the fiber through.
  • Expect modest yield for the volume of leaf. That is kale, not the machine.

Spinach

  • Never feed a large handful alone. It compacts into a wet mat that blocks the screen rather than passing through it.
  • Sandwich it. A small handful between pieces of firm produce, repeatedly. This is the single most effective technique for spinach.
  • Feed very slowly. Spinach is where impatience produces a blockage rather than just lower yield.
  • Clear the screen mid-batch if you are doing a lot. Spinach paste accumulates fast.
Fresh leafy greens on a pale surface
Sandwich spinach between firm produce. On its own it compacts into a mat and blocks the screen.

What about a centrifugal machine?

Both of these are poor matches. Kale has too much structure and too little free liquid to give anything up to shredding; spinach is thin enough that it rides the basket and comes out damp. If kale and spinach are a significant part of your plan, a centrifugal machine is the wrong purchase at any price. Masticating vs centrifugal covers the comparison properly.

If you already own a centrifugal machine and want to make greens work, the honest advice is to blend rather than juice them -- which is a different drink and a legitimate choice. Juicer vs blender covers that trade.

The picks in full

1. Best for kale and spinach overall

Omega NC900HDC

Omega NC900HDC · $200–400 · Our score 7.9/10

Five adjustable end-cap pressure settings is the reason, and it is specific to this pairing: kale wants high back-pressure, spinach wants less or it turns to paste and clogs. This is the only machine we cover that lets you change that between batches. Omega states 80 RPM, two screens and a 15-year warranty. 19.22 in wide, 18.7 lb. Full review.

Speed
Omega states 80 RPM and 150 W outputManufacturer claim: Omega Juicers · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Five pressure settings give real control over pulp and extraction
  • Handles wheatgrass, which most verticals do poorly
  • 15-year warranty on a design that has been iterated for years

What does not

  • 19.22 in wide, which is a counter-depth problem in small kitchens
  • More parts to wash than any vertical here
  • 18.7 lb, so it lives out on the counter whether you like it or not

Skip this if: Your counter is shallow, or cleanup is what will make you quit. It is over 19 in wide and there are more parts to wash than on any vertical here.

2. Best vertical for both

Omega VSJ843

Omega VSJ843 · $400+ · Our score 8.0/10

43 RPM with a dual-edge auger per Omega -- slow enough to crush kale's structure and gentle enough not to pulp spinach into a blockage. 150 W, juice tap, 15-year limited warranty. Narrow feed opening and slow in practice, which with spinach is actually an advantage.

Speed
Omega states 43 RPM, dual-edge single auger, 150 WManufacturer claim: Omega Juicers · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • Slowest published speed here at 43 RPM
  • Juice tap lets you mix in the bowl and stops the drip
  • 15-year limited warranty

What does not

  • Narrow feed opening - prep is unavoidable
  • Slow by design, so throughput is low
  • No published yield, pulp or cleanup figure

Skip this if: You want speed in the morning. 43 RPM is deliberate and it feels deliberate when you are late for work.

3. Best value

Omega J8006HDS

Omega J8006HDS · $200–400 · Our score 7.9/10

The same 80 RPM horizontal auger and 15-year warranty as the NC900HDC, with a triple-stage auger, for meaningfully less. You lose the pressure adjustment, which for this particular pairing is the feature that matters most -- but you keep the right mechanism.

Omega states 80 RPM, 200 W, triple-stage augerManufacturer claim: Omega Juicers · checked 2026-10-02

What works

  • 15-year warranty at a mid-range price
  • A horizontal auger handles stringy celery and greens well
  • Doubles as a nut-butter, pasta and sorbet extruder

What does not

  • Narrow chute means constant prep chopping
  • Takes significant counter depth
  • Omega publishes no yield or cleanup figure to compare

Skip this if: You juice mostly whole apples and oranges. You will spend your life chopping to fit a narrow horizontal chute.

4. Most thorough on kale

Tribest Greenstar Pro

Tribest GSE-5050 series · $400+ · Our score 7.3/10

Twin gears crush kale's structure more completely than any single auger. Tribest states 110 RPM, 200 W, a 1.5 in chute and a 12-year household warranty. At 27 lb with the heaviest cleanup in home juicing, buy it for kale volume, not for convenience.

What works

  • Twin-gear trituration is the most thorough mechanism in home juicing
  • Handles wheatgrass and hard greens that defeat verticals
  • 12-year household warranty

What does not

  • 27 lb and 18.6 in wide
  • 1.5 in chute, so everything gets chopped first
  • The most parts, and the most awkward parts, to clean of anything here

Skip this if: You are buying your first juicer. This is a 27 lb specialist machine with a 1.5 in chute and the heaviest cleanup of anything we cover.

Questions people ask

What is the best juicer for kale and spinach?
Omega's NC900HDC, because its five adjustable pressure settings let you run hard for kale and gentler for spinach. These two greens genuinely want different handling, and almost no other machine lets you change it.
Why does spinach clog my juicer?
A large handful of spinach compacts into a wet mat rather than feeding through as individual leaves. The fix is to sandwich small handfuls between pieces of firm produce, which pushes it through rather than letting it compress.
Should I remove kale stems before juicing?
Keep the thinner ones -- they add structure and act as their own plunger through the auger. Discard genuinely thick woody stems, which contribute little juice and a lot of resistance.
Why do I get so little juice from kale?
Kale has very little free liquid relative to its volume of leaf. That is the produce rather than the machine. Rolling the leaves tightly and alternating with hard produce helps, but the yield is inherently modest.
Can a centrifugal juicer handle kale or spinach?
Neither one well. Kale has too much structure to give up juice to shredding, and spinach rides the basket and emerges damp. If greens matter, buy cold press.
