Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor Review

800 watts, a 3 inch chute, every part dishwasher safe, and a longer warranty than machines costing four times as much.

For under $100 this gives you the same 3 in chute as Breville's machine, 800 watts, every juice-contact part dishwasher safe, and three times the warranty. That combination is the strongest value argument in the whole centrifugal category. The limits are the mechanism and the noise, both of which we would rather state than bury.

Everything Hamilton Beach publishes for this model. Scroll the table sideways on a narrow screen. Every figure above is labeled with where it came from; “Not available” means we could not find a published source, not that the machine performs badly. How we pick.

What Hamilton Beach states

  • An 800 W motor.
  • A 3 in Big Mouth feed chute, which Hamilton Beach says fits a whole apple, a peeled orange or a handful of kale.
  • Food pusher, juicer cover, stainless steel strainer, pulp bin and strainer bowl: removable, dishwasher safe and BPA free.
  • 14.41 x 7.8 x 11.46 in.
  • A 3-year limited warranty, backed by a Hamilton Beach customer support team.
  • Model 67601A.

No RPM figure, which is standard for budget centrifugal machines and still a gap. 800 W tells you the motor is substantial; it does not tell you the basket speed.

The warranty is genuinely the headline

Three years, on a sub-$100 machine. Breville states one year on both the JE98XL and the $400 Cold XL. Mueller states two. BLACK+DECKER states two. Cuisinart's mid-range cold press machine states three.

So on warranty-per-dollar, nothing in the centrifugal category comes close, and Hamilton Beach's own copy makes a point of the support team being its own employees. A warranty is the one number on a product page that is a commitment rather than a claim, and this is a confident one.

Dishwasher safe, comprehensively

Hamilton Beach lists the parts individually -- pusher, cover, strainer, pulp bin, strainer bowl -- which is effectively every component that touches juice. That is the whole cleanup story on a centrifugal machine, and it is more than Breville or Mueller state on the pages we checked.

The mesh basket is still the component that holds residue, and the single most effective thing you can do is rinse it from the outside in, under a strong tap, before the pulp dries. See centrifugal juicer cleanup.

The kale claim, and the honest correction

Hamilton Beach says the chute fits "a handful of kale". That is true dimensionally and misleading practically. A centrifugal basket shreds a kale leaf into confetti and throws it at the mesh without compressing it, so the confetti arrives in the pulp bin still damp.

It is not a false claim -- the kale fits -- but you should not buy this machine for greens. Nor for celery. If those are your produce, the cold press category is where to shop, and the only sub-$100 option there is AMZCHEF's ZM1501.

Who this is for

Somebody who wants a cheap, fast, durable juicer for apples, carrots, beets and peeled citrus, and who values a long warranty over refinement. For that brief this is the best-value machine on the site.

Also somebody buying a first juicer on a tight budget who has honestly concluded that greens are not the plan.

Who should skip it

Anybody buying for celery or leafy greens -- the mechanism cannot do it. Anybody for whom noise is a constraint: this is a fast spinning basket and Hamilton Beach publishes no decibel figure, as almost nobody does. See the quietest juicers, which is a different page with different machines on it.

And anybody who wants a published speed figure, which this machine does not have.

Apples, carrots and beets. On that produce this machine does the job for a fraction of the money.

Hamilton Beach Big Mouth Juice Extractor

Hamilton Beach 67601A · Under $100 · Our score 6.7/10

Hamilton Beach states an 800 W motor, a 3 in Big Mouth feed chute, a 3-year limited warranty, and that the food pusher, cover, stainless strainer, pulp bin and strainer bowl are all removable and dishwasher safe. That warranty is three times Breville's on a machine at a fraction of the price. No RPM is published, it is loud, and it is centrifugal -- so celery and greens are out.

What works

  • 3-year warranty, which is unusual under $100
  • Every part that touches juice is dishwasher safe, per Hamilton Beach
  • 3 in chute at a budget price

What does not

  • Centrifugal, so it is poor at celery and greens
  • No RPM published
  • Loud, as all high-speed spinning juicers are

Skip this if: Celery juice is the plan. This is the wrong mechanism for it at any price.

Questions people ask

Is the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth a good juicer?
For apples, carrots, beets and peeled citrus, yes -- 800 W, a 3 in chute, dishwasher-safe parts and a 3-year warranty for under $100 is the best value in the centrifugal category. It is the wrong machine for celery and leafy greens.
What is the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth's warranty?
Hamilton Beach states a 3-year limited warranty, which is three times what Breville quotes on machines costing several times more.
Are the Big Mouth's parts dishwasher safe?
Hamilton Beach states that the food pusher, juicer cover, stainless strainer, pulp bin and strainer bowl are all removable and dishwasher safe -- effectively every part that touches juice.
Can the Big Mouth juice kale?
Kale fits the 3 in chute, but a centrifugal basket shreds a leaf into confetti without compressing it, so most of it arrives in the pulp bin still damp. For greens you want a cold press machine.
How loud is the Hamilton Beach Big Mouth?
Loud, as all high-speed spinning juicers are, and Hamilton Beach publishes no decibel figure -- nor does any other centrifugal brand we checked. No RPM is published either.
